ParticipantMy chosen prime area was Communication and Language – listening and attention.
I selected Nursery rhyme reading for the 0-2yr olds. The task may well incorporate aspects of Understanding and Speaking too.

ParticipantOkay, so, it seemed to need about 10 mins to attach to my first attempt but the screen did not show the attachment.
I’ll blame my rural internet otherwise I’ll go mad thinking I can’t operate a simple forum.May the force be with you all!

ParticipantHi all
I found this task tricky as I don’t really have any current and relevant experience with 0-20mths.
I chose to focus on physical development, with communication and language (and mathematics) alongside. I have based my activity on working with children of 18 months of age.

ParticipantHi guys,
slightly late uploading so you won’t see this before the session but I have also focused on communication and language and created a singing prop basket for my 0-2’sAttachments:

ParticipantHI Hayley – This is a really strong activity and one that you can use in a variety of ways. I think your reflection is very honest and it can be annoying when things are put togehter for a reason and children use them in different ways but look at the language development your activity supported.

ParticipantHi Emma I think you’ve covered just about everything in your plan- and what a lovely range of experiences you are giving your children. You say you have very little exp. of this age group but I can see in the way that you write that you are tuned into and thinking about all the needs/possibilities within the group of children.
I really like how you have thought about your continued provision to give children a range of other opportunities to develop their fine motor skills long after you have introduced tour activity.

ParticipantAttached Interim task. I concentrated on communication and language. I’ve attached a picture of the stone hedgehogs just for reference!

ParticipantThank you all for the contributions – wonderful to see so many of you have used sensory exploration a a way of supporting and scaffolding very early childhood learning and development!
There is a lot of research available on sensory integration if anyone feels like doing a bit of googling!!!

ParticipantArlene,
You have clearly spent a lot of time working on your Interim task and the structure that you’ve used is good for organising your thoughts. Also, using the template has supported you re thinking through all aspects of teaching. A template is good to use when you are supporting other practitioners (to share your thinking), but I agree with you that these are time consuming.
Keep up the excellent work.

ParticipantThank you for the feedback.
I have been reading around since questioning how to best record this task. I’m developing a better sense of EY planning versus the concept of a plan which has connotations of rigidity. If that makes sense? With a few trials I imagine I will develop personal planning templates.
I can certainly appreciate the benefits to be made from habitual reflection after a planned activity. If some form of recorded plan is available this process will be supported. I can explore how reflective practice happens within my setting.October 27, 2020 at 10:02 am #9056 - This reply was modified 4 years, 6 months ago by
