Why Essex Primary SCITT?
Essex Primary SCITT is run by our schools. Learning to teach doesn’t just happen overnight it takes time, hard work and support. EPS aims to train, support and guide you to be the very best teacher you can be because we want the best teachers transforming the lives of children in our schools.
The best people to tell you why you should apply to train with us are those we have trained. Each year our trainees let us know why they have been so happy to have trained with us as well as anything we can do to make our programme even better
What do our former primary trainees have to say…
Our comprehensive programme…
“Fantastically organised and well-structured course. The taught programme is very comprehensive and full of brilliant ideas that you can take, use and adapt.”
“Exceptional course material, delivered by a varied range of professional and enthusiastic teachers. I have been impressed by the wealth of relevant teaching material given and the contemporary nature of the course material, addressing recent and on-going changes in legislation.”
“The balance of teaching and course days allowed me to learn ideas and apply these in the classroom. A very organised, practical and supportive course.”
… delivered by fantastic tutors
“One of the selling points of the course has to be the tutors. They have been really engaging and motivating in fact so much so that I have wanted to go into class and try it all out there and then!”
“Tutors are extremely knowledgeable and helpful and deliver sessions in an engaging way. I feel that I am now equipped to teach my own class confidently and creatively.”
… in great schools with great mentors
“My mentor has been amazing. She has been incredibly supportive.”
“Fantastic really supportive school, fantastic staff, experienced mentor who was incredible. Cannot put into words how good this experience was.”
“Mentor support in school was fantastic. I was very lucky to have such an experienced and dedicated teacher to learn from.”
“Very supportive staff- made me feel part of the team.”
… with excellent support
“The support from the SCITT team has been excellent.”
“Very supportive and nurturing.”
“Support from external mentor offered me an outside perspective on my progress, allowing me to see the bigger picture.”
… and 100% of trainees successful in securing a job – currently 70% in our partnership schools
“I feel that the course gave us the knowledge and skills to make us highly employable in a very competitive market.”
So if you are looking to become a highly effective, highly employable primary teacher our former trainees recommend this course to you.
“I can’t rate the course more highly. The way the course is structured allows you to get to know what life is like in a school whilst gradually building up your teaching experience. You are utterly supported along the way by the tutors and mentors who are out to give you the very best start in your career as a teacher. Certainly, for me this was the best pathway to take to QTS.”
“I have thoroughly enjoyed the course. Although it has, as expected, been challenging in many ways, I have learnt so much and progressed enormously. I now feel fully prepared to take on my own class.”
“I feel that the SCITT is a fantastic way to train as a teacher, as the trainee is part of the school team from day 1.”
“Have had a fantastic year! Have learnt and developed so much and cannot wait to begin teaching in September.”
“Although extremely hard work, I have thoroughly enjoyed the course and would certainly recommend it to others.”
“The school based nature of the course makes it incredibly intense, hard work and pressurised. Nothing else could better prepare a trainee for the nature of the teaching role.”
